About the client: A leading company in the insurance space.
Job Summary
The Lead – Liability Claims is responsible for overseeing and managing complex liability claims, ensuring timely investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards. This role provides technical guidance to claims adjusters, handles high-exposure cases, and supports strategic claims management to minimize financial and legal risk.
Key Responsibilities
1. Claims Handling & Oversight

Manage and resolve complex and high-value liability claims (e.g., general liability, auto liability, professional liability).

Conduct thorough investigations including review of evidence, statements, contracts, and legal documentation.

Determine coverage applicability and policy interpretation.

Assess liability exposure and reserve adequacy.

Authorize settlements within delegated authority limits.
2. Leadership & Team Support

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to liability claims adjusters.

Review and approve claim decisions and settlement recommendations.

Conduct file audits to ensure quality, compliance, and accuracy.

Support training and development initiatives within the claims team.
3. Legal & Vendor Coordination

Liaise with defense counsel, investigators, and external experts.

Monitor litigation strategy and legal expenses.

Review pleadings, settlement demands, and legal opinions.

Participate in mediation and settlement conferences where required.
4. Risk & Compliance Management

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Identify fraud indicators and escalate suspicious claims.

Maintain accurate documentation and reporting.

Provide claims analytics and trend insights to management.
5. Stakeholder Management

Maintain professional communication with insured clients, brokers, and claimants.

Handle escalated complaints and sensitive cases.

Deliver high-quality customer service while protecting company interests
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Law, Business Administration, or related field.

5–10 years of experience in liability claims handling.

Proven experience managing complex or litigated claims.
-
Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
-
Professional certifications (e.g., AIC, CPCU, CII) are an advantage.
