Position Overview
The Associate Director/Director – Business Development role is responsible for achieving sales goals across assigned geographies and service lines. The position focuses on building and managing a qualified opportunity pipeline, strengthening client relationships, and driving revenue growth for formulation services. The role collaborates cross-functionally with discovery, development, and marketing teams to deliver integrated business solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, own, and manage a qualified opportunity pipeline for Formulation CRDMO services.
- Map and engage clients transitioning from Discovery to Development to ensure continuity of service and revenue capture.
- Collaborate with Discovery BD, Development/Mfg BD, and Pre-Sales teams to generate integrated proposals and solution offerings.
- Act as GTM lead to drive campaigns, marketing collaterals, and client-facing narratives aligned with corporate marketing.
- Work with the market intelligence team to track competitive landscape, identify emerging trends, and build account intelligence.
- Generate new leads and share-shift opportunities through independent outreach and market mapping.
- Coordinate across global BD teams (US, EU, APAC) to ensure unified messaging, pipeline visibility, and conversion.
- Support client presentations, proposal development, and CRM updates to ensure seamless interface with technical and delivery teams.
- Achieve sales targets for the Formulations business in international territories through accurate forecasting, pipeline building, and budgeting.
- Represent the company at conferences, trade fairs, and networking events to build relationships and expand business opportunities.
- Ensure cost-effective financial management, timely collections, and compliance with reporting and Salesforce.com norms.
- Cultivate strong client relationships, manage expectations, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Education: Master’s in Business Administration (Marketing) with preferably B Pharm or M Pharm or Graduation in Sciences.
- Experience: 8 to 12 years of relevant business development experience in the pharmaceutical or formulation development domain.
- Leadership: Proven ability to collaborate across global BD teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of the new drug development process, experience in discovery setups, and exposure to formulation or pharmaceutical development.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills in English (both verbal and written), strong analytical and relationship-building capabilities, and a collaborative mindset.
