Job Purpose
The Plant Head will lead the overall safe, compliant, efficient and commercially sustainable operation of a multi-product pharmaceutical and medical-device manufacturing facility, with accountability for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People and Compliance.
The role will drive operational excellence, regulatory compliance, productivity, cost optimisation and continuous improvement across multiple manufacturing technologies, while ensuring uninterrupted supply, asset utilisation, workforce capability and achievement of site performance and financial targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead overall plant strategy, operations and performance across all manufacturing functions.
- Ensure safe, efficient and uninterrupted production across multiple product lines.
- Drive GMP/cGMP, ISO, regulatory compliance and continuous inspection readiness.
- Optimise OEE, yield, throughput, productivity, capacity and asset utilisation.
- Oversee engineering, maintenance, utilities, validation and asset reliability.
- Ensure effective supply planning, material availability, inventory control and supply continuity.
- Drive Lean, Six Sigma, operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Own plant budgets, CAPEX, cost optimisation and financial performance.
- Lead EHS, risk management, business continuity and zero-harm initiatives.
- Build a high-performing leadership team, strengthen talent capability and drive accountability.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- BE/ BPharm – Chemistry/ Biotechnology or a related technical discipline; postgraduate qualification preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, medical-device or regulated manufacturing environments.
- 8+ years in senior plant/manufacturing leadership, ideally managing multiple production lines/technologies and 300+ employees.
- Strong experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, preferably sterile/aseptic operations, with proven GMP/cGMP, ISO and regulatory inspection readiness.
- Demonstrated ownership of plant budgets, CAPEX, operational costs, Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement.
- Experience in technology transfer, scale-up, NPI, plant expansion and automation/digital manufacturing.
- Background in multinational, regional or export-oriented manufacturing environments.
- Strong combination of strategic thinking, commercial acumen, operational leadership, change management and people development, with a data-driven and results-oriented approach.
