Position Overview

The Business Development – Reinsurance (Outward) role is designed to drive growth in treaty and facultative reinsurance across overseas regions. This position plays a pivotal part in expanding the RI Book, maintaining profitability, and strengthening relationships with global reinsurers. The role collaborates closely with Operations Support and Claims Support teams to ensure seamless execution and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop business for reinsurance – treaty and facultative segments across overseas markets.
  • Identify and pursue new market prospects to expand the RI Book and ensure profitability.
  • Work with international markets for placement of reinsurance and retrocession business.
  • Identify opportunities in Property, Engineering, Aviation, and Retro Protection lines.
  • Negotiate with global reinsurers to secure competitive reinsurance quotes.
  • Analyze treaties and facultative offers using statistical data to optimize coverage understanding.
  • Conduct research on new product and regional developments; prepare supporting statistics.
  • Build and maintain strong business networks through conferences and international partner visits.
  • Manage end-to-end client servicing—from sourcing and placement to settlement completion.
  • Support the implementation of compliance processes in coordination with internal teams.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven track record in the Reinsurance space with strong domain knowledge in Insurance & Reinsurance.
  • Leadership: Experience managing business development initiatives across multiple regions and engaging with global stakeholders.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of treaty, facultative, and retrocession business; analytical ability to interpret reinsurance statistics.
  • Soft Skills: Strong sales acumen, excellent communication and presentation skills, and readiness for extensive travel to grow business.
