Position Overview

The Head of Purchasing holds enterprise-wide accountability for end-to-end procurement and Supplier Quality Management across Direct Purchasing, Indirect Purchasing, and supplier governance. Reporting as a strategic advisor to the India Leadership Team, the role drives cost optimization, supply continuity, and product quality, directly influencing EBIT, working capital, and margin performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and optimize Direct, Indirect, and Services Purchasing spend to deliver measurable EBIT and working capital impact.
• Drive cost reduction, value engineering, localization, and cost initiatives aligned with business growth objectives.
• Establish and lead the Supplier Quality Management (SQM) framework ensuring quality-at-source and continuous improvement.
• Define supplier segmentation, sourcing strategy, and long-term partnerships with strong governance and compliance.
• Lead negotiations on commercials, quality standards, and service levels to secure sustainable supplier relationships.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to align cost, quality, and delivery goals.
• Support new product introduction and localization through early supplier involvement and capability development.
• Proactively manage supply continuity, cost volatility, and quality risks through robust governance mechanisms.
• Lead and develop a high-performing procurement organization anchored in ethical standards and compliance.
• Build a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement across the procurement function.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
• Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in strategic procurement within manufacturing, home appliance industry, or consumer durables, covering Direct and Indirect Purchasing.
• Leadership: Proven ability to manage large multi-crore spend portfolios, complex supplier ecosystems, and influence senior leadership.
• Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience in SAP MM and SRM environments with strong governance and compliance orientation.
• Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills; strategic, analytical, and performance-driven mindset.
