Position Overview
The Chief Business Officer (CBO) will lead the end-to-end business strategy and execution for the MFI and MSME verticals, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This role is accountable for driving growth, portfolio quality, and operational excellence while steering digital transformation across a large, multi-state field organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business strategy, expansion planning, and full P&L ownership for MFI and MSME businesses.
- Manage and mentor the field and regional leadership team to deliver sustainable growth.
- Ensure strong asset quality, credit discipline, and risk mitigation across all operating regions.
- Drive customer acquisition, product innovation, channel optimization, and digital enablement initiatives.
- Strengthen processes, compliance, audit readiness, and governance standards across the business.
- Partner with the COO and CXO leadership to shape the long-term business roadmap and transformation agenda.
- Build and sustain high-performing teams with a culture of accountability, efficiency, and customer-centricity.
- Oversee operational excellence and continuous improvement across multi-state field operations.
- Champion data-driven decision-making and performance management frameworks.
- Represent the business in strategic forums to align growth objectives with organizational priorities.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Experience: 18–25+ years of leadership experience in Microfinance, MSME lending, Rural Finance, or Retail Lending.
- Leadership: Proven success in managing large P&Ls and high-scale field operations; demonstrated ability to lead large teams and deliver consistent business growth.
- Technical Expertise: Strong command over risk, collections, product strategy, and regulatory frameworks.
- Soft Skills: Strategic thinker with strong execution orientation and stakeholder management capabilities.
