Position Overview
The Business Development Manager – Agro & Pharma Chemicals will lead business development and account management for a defined portfolio of chemical products. Reporting to Regional / Global Business Leadership, the role drives profitable growth, builds strategic customer relationships, and expands market presence across key accounts in India. This is an individual contributor position with high visibility and potential for future leadership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales growth and market development across Agrochemical, Pharmaceutical, and related chemical manufacturing customers.
- Develop and execute business strategies to expand market share and strengthen customer relationships.
- Identify and convert new business opportunities while managing existing key accounts.
- Lead commercial discussions, pricing negotiations, contract management, and customer engagement activities.
- Collaborate with global business teams to align local growth strategies with overall business objectives.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, customer requirements, and emerging opportunities.
- Develop sales forecasts, business plans, and periodic performance reports.
- Work closely with supply chain, regulatory, and customer service teams to ensure seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
- Build strong relationships with procurement, sourcing, commercial, and business leadership stakeholders within customer organizations.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Approximately 8–12 years in B2B chemical sales and business development.
- Leadership: Individual contributor role with engagement across regional and global stakeholders.
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience selling chemical intermediates, specialty chemicals, amines, derivatives, and industrial chemicals.
- Soft Skills: Strong commercial orientation, negotiation, account management, and strategic business development capabilities.
