Position Overview

The Senior Development Chef leads recipe and product development within the R&D function, reporting to the Head R&D. The role is responsible for transforming culinary concepts into commercially viable, factory-ready formulations that meet customer needs and uphold the highest standards of taste, texture, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end development of new products and improvements across seasoning powders, marinades, gravy bases, sauces, coatings, and beverage concentrates.
  • Translate recipes into standardized, scalable formulations, ensuring consistent sensory quality and manufacturability.
  • Document detailed product specifications and clear usage instructions for internal and customer reference.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand menu requirements and operational challenges, delivering tailored culinary solutions.
  • Conduct trials, demonstrations, and workshops replicating real kitchen environments for customers and sales teams.
  • Monitor market trends in spices, gravies, coatings, and beverages to identify new product opportunities and portfolio enhancements.
  • Maintain a comprehensive recipe and application library to support internal teams and customer engagement.
  • Mentor and develop chefs and kitchen staff to strengthen culinary capability and innovation culture.
  • Provide product training to sales, distributors, and key account teams to ensure effective market deployment.
  • Partner cross-functionally with marketing, sales, operations, quality assurance, manufacturing, and procurement to ensure seamless product launch and scaling.
  • Present development plans, progress, and insights to senior leadership for strategic alignment.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in Hotel Management, Food Technology, or Culinary Arts.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of professional chef or culinary product development experience, including exposure to Indian regional and global cuisines.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to mentor chefs and collaborate with cross-functional teams; reports to the Head R&D.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of spices, seasonings, sauces, and cooking techniques; skilled in sensory evaluation, recipe standardization, food costing, yield, and margin management.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and training capabilities; creative, detail-oriented, and solution-driven approach.
