Position Overview
This role exists to lead plant production operations across multiple facilities by optimizing resource utilization, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity to achieve operational excellence and meet business objectives. The position reports directly to the Site Head.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and oversee daily production activities to meet targets for quality, quantity, cost, and timelines.
- Ensure optimal utilization of raw materials, utilities, manpower, and equipment across assigned plants.
- Coordinate with R&D and Quality teams to drive process improvements and product scale-up initiatives.
- Plan and execute maintenance shutdowns in collaboration with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and enhance equipment reliability.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, including implementation of safety procedures, PPE usage, and risk assessments aligned with EHS standards and statutory requirements.
- Investigate and report incidents and near misses, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyze process inefficiencies and implement improvements to enhance yield and optimize energy consumption.
- Monitor operational costs and lead cost-reduction initiatives.
- Lead, train, and motivate the plant team to achieve operational and safety objectives.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Education: B.E./B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering.
- Experience: 15+ years in batch and continuous plant operations with DCS systems, specifically within Agrochemicals, Specialty Chemicals, or Pharma Manufacturing.
- Leadership: Minimum 5 years as a Block Head or equivalent leadership role overseeing plant operations.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of chemical process operations, utilities, equipment, EHS regulations, and SAP.
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and people management skills, analytical and problem-solving ability, result-oriented with multitasking capability, and a continuous improvement mindset.
