Position Overview

The Director – Finance defines, coordinates, and monitors the implementation of finance strategies, policies, internal controls, and all financial, administrative, and legal matters across South Asia. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role ensures accurate, transparent, and timely financial information, enabling sound resource allocation and compliance with international standards.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and monitor annual plans and budgets for South Asia, including India and Sri Lanka, aligned with the Strategic Planning, Accountability and Resource Cycle (SPARC) agreement.Ensure coherence and alignment between regional support functions and the broader international finance framework.Implement and oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting cycles to ensure quality and timeliness.Define financial strategy with the Executive Director, assess and mitigate financial risks, and maintain robust internal controls.Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis, providing dashboards and insights to executive and board leadership.Oversee internal audits, tax planning, and compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks in India and Sri Lanka.Manage finance and compliance teams across multiple locations, fostering cross-functional collaboration.Coordinate with legal counsel, company secretaries, and consultants to ensure compliance and governance integrity.Represent the organization in global finance platforms and guide the management team on international financial strategies.Support the Head of Office, India on finance and compliance matters, ensuring alignment with organizational standards.

Required Experience & Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in Finance and Commerce or Chartered Accountant; Management/Administration qualification is an advantage.Experience: Minimum 15 years post-qualification experience in finance, including 5 years in a senior managerial role; experience in developing countries and in India and Sri Lanka preferred.Leadership: Direct supervision of 2–3 staff; member of the Management Team for South Asia; collaboration with international offices and government stakeholders.Technical Expertise: Financial and management reporting, audits, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and risk management.Soft Skills: Service orientation, strategic vision, planning and organizing, analytical thinking, and results and quality orientation.
