Position Overview
The Vice President – Legal is responsible for overseeing all legal matters across the organization, ensuring full compliance with applicable laws and regulations while safeguarding corporate interests. Reporting to the Company Secretary, this role provides strategic legal direction, manages risk, and leads a team of legal professionals to support the company’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex contracts and agreements to ensure legal accuracy and alignment with business goals.
- Manage all litigations involving the company, ensuring effective representation and timely resolution.
- Provide legal guidance and advice on policies, committees, and dispute resolution matters.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank and other statutory authorities.
- Develop and implement legal strategies that mitigate risk and support organizational objectives.
- Participate in policy-making deliberations, offering legal expertise to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
- Review and refine organizational policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
- Monitor the progress of legal proceedings and coordinate actions for effective case management.
- Handle notices and inquiries from statutory bodies, ensuring appropriate and timely responses.
- Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals, fostering a culture of diligence, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Education: Graduation in Law is mandatory; LL.M., CS, or other relevant professional qualifications are preferred.
- Experience: 14–18 years of experience in the legal field within relevant industries.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead legal teams and collaborate with senior management, including direct reporting to the Company Secretary.
- Technical Expertise: Strong command of corporate law, regulatory compliance, contract management, and litigation handling.
- Soft Skills: Demonstrated attention to detail, adaptability, and a strong willingness to learn.
