Position Overview
The Head of Ecommerce will lead the company’s digital commerce strategy and accelerate growth across online marketplaces and emerging digital platforms. This role combines strategic thinking, commercial ownership, and platform relationship management to build a scalable ecommerce engine. The position works cross-functionally with sales, marketing, supply chain, and digital growth teams to drive category expansion and strengthen the company’s digital presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the organization’s ecommerce strategy across marketplaces and quick commerce platforms.
- Build strong strategic partnerships with key platforms including Amazon, Flipkart, BigBasket, Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, and other emerging digital channels.
- Lead Joint Business Planning with platform partners to unlock growth opportunities, platform visibility, and innovation.
- Own the ecommerce P&L and deliver sustainable revenue and margin growth across categories.
- Develop category-specific playbooks aligned with consumer behavior, platform dynamics, and brand strategy.
- Drive operational excellence across demand planning, inventory availability, and fulfillment performance.
- Lead marketplace marketing strategy including platform media, search optimization, and performance marketing.
- Drive best-in-class digital merchandising and “digital shelf” execution to maximize discoverability and conversion.
- Leverage platform analytics and consumer insights to shape assortment, bundling, pricing, and ecommerce-led product innovation.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Education: MBA from a leading business school.
- Experience: 15–18 years of overall experience with significant leadership exposure in ecommerce or digital commerce.
- Leadership: Prior experience as a Category Head or equivalent leadership role at a leading ecommerce marketplace.
- Technical Expertise: Strong exposure to buying, sourcing, and vendor management with deep understanding of marketplace economics and category building.
