Overview of the Company
PSS has been mandated to hire a Head of Sales/ Business, USA, for our client, a growing, global eco/ paper packaging organisation that manufactures paper-based packaging products (corrugated boxes, paper bags, cartons, cups). It serves general retail, luxury retail, and food services clients across the globe. The company has several state-of-the-art and quality controlled manufacturing facilities in India.
The company’s US business customers are from two industries: retail and food services or Quick-Service Retail (QSR) format chains. While the retail business is the larger part of the pie currently, the food services division has the potential to grow substantially with the right sales leaders and customer teams, given the market opportunity based on food services companies having partners who are quality-focused, reliable and cost-effective.
Overview of the Position
Our client is looking to hire a Sales Director who will open doors to food packaging distributors who cater to regional and national food services/ QSR customers in the United States. The person will be responsible for new business development and sales generation, supported by a market research and customer engagement team based in India.
The client currently has an established business in paper packaging in the United States, serving several large department store retailers, luxury retailers, as well as a handful of food services organisations. It works with an exclusive 3P logistics partner with national warehouse distribution and import partners in the United States to manage logistics.
To summarize, the company follows a B2B supply chain:
- Manufacturer (India) → 2. USA Importer → 3. Food Packaging Distributor → 4. Final outlets (like QSRs and C-Stores).
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate and build customer leads (with distribution companies and possibly with end food service customers) across the United States by presenting the organization’s products’ value proposition to make high-quality, custom-designed paper packaging (bags, cups, holders, boxes) to food services and QSR clients.
- In conjunction with the CEO, work to close pilot deals and long-term agreements with these customers. Leverage the company’s existing success and track record in the United States with retail customers and its growing list of customers in the food services industry.
- Achieve target revenue numbers based on new deals signed every year.
Prior Experience & Skills:
- A veteran business development and sales professional with anywhere from 12-30 years of experience who can open doors with packaging distributors to the food services and QSR companies. Years of experience is not a constraint.
- A go-getter with prior, well-established relationships in this segment who understands the ground-level realities of selling to the customer segment.
Location: Can be remote/ anywhere in the US. Their US entity is New Jersey-registered. Traveling will be required for clients as required.
Salary and Compensation: US$175,000 – 200,000 Base + Performance Incentives + Insurance
