Position Overview
The Sales Director will lead revenue growth for the company’s newly established United Kingdom entity, reporting directly to Vernon Mathias, Executive Director. This strategic role will drive market expansion, build customer relationships, and deliver sustainable paper packaging solutions to food service and retail clients, positioning the business for rapid scale-up in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate leads and initiate discussions with customers through existing relationships, market insights, and participation in industry trade fairs.
- Sell sustainable paper packaging solutions to food services (QSR, restaurants) and retail/luxury retail clients through distributors and direct channels.
- Collaborate with Mr. Vernon Mathias, Global Director, to propose customized packaging solutions and evaluate commercial viability of pilot and long-term projects.
- Meet and exceed agreed sales targets, contributing to the company’s goal of achieving GBP 10 million in UK revenue within 24 months.
- Leverage relationships with key UK packaging distributors such as Smurfit WestRock, DS Smith, Bunzl, PaperBag, H-Pack, Univest, and Sinium.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regional and national end customers in retail and food services sectors.
- Assess and optimize commercial parameters including manufacturing, shipping, and warehousing costs to ensure competitive pricing and profitability.
- Represent the company at trade fairs and industry events to enhance visibility and build a robust sales pipeline.
- Contribute to the development of long-term strategic partnerships with global and regional brands.
- Support the establishment and growth of the UK sales team as the business scales.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Experience: 8 to 20+ years of sales experience in paper packaging or related industries, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to build and lead customer relationships, influence key stakeholders, and collaborate with executive leadership.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of packaging manufacturing, shipping, and warehousing/distribution costs in the United Kingdom.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep familiarity with packaging distributors and end customers in food services and retail sectors.
- Soft Skills: Hunter mindset, commercially astute, customer-focused, and capable of proposing both standard and customized solutions.
