Position Overview
The Site Head (AVP/VP) role exists to lead the site establishment, commissioning, ramp-up, and ongoing plant operations of the Greenfield Specialty Chemical Manufacturing Site. Reporting directly to the COO, this position drives end-to-end leadership across operational readiness, EHS governance, manufacturing excellence, talent build-out, and overall site business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Greenfield project execution in partnership with Project, EHS, and Corporate teams to ensure successful site establishment and commissioning.
- Drive site readiness including infrastructure, utilities, warehousing, labs, security, and administration to enable seamless start-up.
- Oversee site start-up, stabilization, and capacity ramp-up, ensuring smooth transition from construction to commercial operations.
- Establish and lead manufacturing operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity targets aligned with business objectives.
- Ensure production plans and customer delivery commitments are consistently achieved.
- Implement operational discipline, process consistency, and manufacturing reliability through robust procedures and control systems.
- Lead commissioning and start-up activities for manufacturing plants, utilities, and infrastructure with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Build and develop the site organization, including manpower planning, recruitment, and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Institutionalize a "Safety First" culture and ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and process safety regulations.
- Drive operational excellence initiatives including Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement from the start-up phase.
- Manage site operating budget and cost performance to achieve annual operational and financial targets.
- Serve as the primary site representative for customers, auditors, regulators, community stakeholders, and corporate leadership.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities and industry associations to foster positive industrial and community relations.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Education: B.E./B.Tech. (Chemical)
- Experience: 18 to 20 years in specialty chemicals, fine chemicals, agrochemicals, or related process industries with expertise in commissioning, start-up, and scale-up of Greenfield/Brownfield manufacturing facilities.
- Leadership: Proven multi-functional manufacturing operations management with at least 8-10 years in plant leadership roles.
- Technical Expertise: Strong technical knowledge in Chemical Manufacturing (Batch & Continuous Processes), Greenfield site plant commissioning & start-up, process safety, and statutory compliances.
- Soft Skills: Demonstrated leadership and decision-making, execution excellence, result orientation, budgeting, planning, analytical and problem-solving abilities, collaboration, stakeholder management, excellent communication and influencing skills, agility, resilience, and people development.
