Position Overview
The Deputy General Manager – Operations leads end-to-end operations at the Mumbai facility, ensuring manufacturing excellence, cost efficiency, product quality, and compliance. The role drives strategic alignment with the company’s growth and efficiency improvement plans while developing team capability and maintaining a culture of performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive operational excellence by controlling operating costs and key unit KPIs including OEE, OTIF delivery, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Monitor and reduce process losses of Raw Material (RM), Packing Material (PM), inks, and solvents through data-driven analysis.
- Plan, implement, and monitor CAPEX projects to ensure timely completion within approved budgets and performance benchmarks.
- Lead functional teams across Stores & Inventory Management, Plant Maintenance, Production Execution, and Quality Control.
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI and internal food safety standards, including HACCP, GMP, GHP, and GWP.
- Oversee EHS systems to maintain workplace safety, conduct audits, and ensure environmental compliance.
- Manage Production Planning & Inventory Control (PPIC) to align production schedules with material availability.
- Implement and sustain 5S and best manufacturing practices to enhance hygiene and workplace organization.
- Develop and coach teams through structured capability-building programs and performance reviews.
- Maintain sound industrial relations and ensure statutory compliance with all licenses, consents, and permissions.
- Track plant financials, generate MIS reports, and ensure adherence to operational budgets and audit systems.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Education: B.Tech / M.Tech in Food Technology, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 15–20 years in food manufacturing, food service, or processed food industry with exposure to sauces, gravies, marinades, condiments, and base preparations.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead large teams, manage cross-functional operations, and deliver cost, quality, and efficiency goals.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in SAP / ERP systems, OEE improvement, yield enhancement, cost optimization, and capacity utilization; experience with filling, packaging, and sealing lines (pouches, jars, cans).
- Certifications: Preferred credentials include ISO Internal Auditor, HACCP, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), TPM, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership and decision-making ability; analytical, data-driven, system-oriented, disciplined, and quality-focused with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
