Position Overview

The BD Vertical Head will drive organizational growth strategies, enhance the client and product portfolio, and bring new business opportunities to meet both short- and long-term objectives. This leadership role reports directly to the Managing Director and is based in Hyderabad, with responsibility for expanding the company’s footprint in the API regulatory market, particularly in Europe.

Key Responsibilities

Lead a team to identify and pursue new business opportunities within the pharmaceutical industry for the company’s API products.Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve sales targets and expand market share.Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop customized solutions and proposals for clients.Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote products and services.Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with clients to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.Monitor industry trends, regulations, and market dynamics to inform business strategies and decision-making.Drive team performance and ensure alignment with organizational growth objectives.Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the business development function.

Required Experience & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business Administration, or Marketing; MBA preferred. Advanced degrees in Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, or Biochemistry are highly valued.Experience: 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in API business development.Leadership: Proven team management experience; leads a team of 2–3 (expandable to 4); reports to the Managing Director.Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of the API business, pharmaceutical market dynamics, and regulatory requirements; experience in European API regulatory markets is preferred.Soft Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and public speaking skills; strategic and relationship-driven leadership style; willingness to travel internationally.
