Position Overview

The Business Development Manager – Solar will lead strategic business development initiatives to drive revenue and market expansion in the solar energy segment. Reporting to the Head – Revenue, this individual contributor role is based at the corporate office in Mumbai and plays a pivotal part in shaping growth strategies within the Professional Lighting division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in solar EPC, rooftop, and utility-scale projects.
  • Conduct market research to analyze trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, government agencies, EPC contractors, and industrial customers.
  • Prepare and deliver techno-commercial proposals and presentations to key stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts and close deals to achieve defined sales targets.
  • Manage tender submissions, RFP responses, and pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Monitor market movements to identify new ventures and growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with technical, project, and finance teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Represent the company at exhibitions, trade fairs, and industry forums to enhance visibility and partnerships.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Education: BE/BTech (Electrical) or MBA/PGDM (Marketing).
  • Experience: 8–12 years in business development or sales, including at least 3 years in a managerial or cross-functional collaboration role within the Solar or Renewable Energy sector.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and collaborate with internal stakeholders such as product managers, tendering, and supply chain teams.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of solar PV systems, EPC processes, and government policies or incentives; proficiency in data analysis, financial acumen, and funnel management.
  • Soft Skills: Strategic thinker with strong relationship management, sales skills, and a customer-first mindset; demonstrates agility, collaboration, and a drive for excellence.
