Position Overview

The Business Development – Reinsurance (Outward) role drives growth across Facultative and Treaty reinsurance lines. Positioned at mid-level and senior-level, this role is responsible for developing and maintaining a profitable reinsurance book across overseas regions, working closely with reinsurers, clients, and internal support teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop business for reinsurance – treaty and facultative lines across overseas markets.
  • Identify and pursue new market prospects to expand the RI Book.
  • Maintain a profitable reinsurance business portfolio for assigned regions.
  • Work with rated markets for placement of reinsurance and retrocession business.
  • Identify opportunities in Property, Engineering, Aviation, and Retro Protection segments.
  • Negotiate with global reinsurers to secure competitive reinsurance quotes.
  • Analyze treaties and facultative offers using statistical data to optimize cover understanding.
  • Conduct research on new product and regional developments, preparing relevant statistics.
  • Build and sustain business networks by attending international conferences and partner meetings.
  • Manage end-to-end client servicing—from sourcing and placement to settlement completion.
  • Support the implementation of compliance processes in coordination with Operations Support and Claims Support teams.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven track record in the Reinsurance space, with strong domain knowledge in Insurance & Reinsurance and experience developing business in emerging regions.
  • Leadership: Ability to manage cross-border relationships and collaborate with internal support teams.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of Facultative and Treaty reinsurance, retrocession, and market placement processes.
  • Soft Skills: Strong sales acumen, excellent communication and presentation skills, and willingness for extensive travel to grow business.
