About the client: PSS has been mandated to hire a Country Manager - China for a leading biopharmaceutical company in India specializing in the development of innovative biologics, biosimilars, and small molecules for a range of chronic diseases, including oncology.
Purpose of the role: Sales & BD for API & Formulation
Reporting Structure: Head - Global API
Key Responsibilities:
- P&L responsibility for China and building business for Formulations (Generics) and API (B2B).
- Building & driving a comprehensive strategy on business starting with portfolio selection, development, licensing in & out, regulatory registration filing, approval, and partnering for maximizing commercial value on each of the assets.
- Building the organization’s brand in the Pharmaceutical industry commensurate to its global image to enable create & leverage value over a period.
- Building relevant Teams and infrastructure across China to leverage outcomes on the investments it intends to make in building products/assets.
- Creating & owning up investment plans in terms of products, assets, M&A and other plans agreed upon with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) management.
- Oversee and drive the execution of long-term sales & BD objectives in retail, institutional & GPO Tenders driving ensure achievement of revenue & organizational strategic objectives profitably.
- Monitor critical customer accounts, and business deals and participate in deal reviews. Oversee deal negotiations, tender renewal, contracts, and sales closure across China.
- Partner with R&D to ensure gathering of insights on products in the pipeline, critical product information (composition, regulatory requirements, required approvals, etc.), and collaborate with operations and SCM to ensure seamless supply and demand planning and timely product delivery to customers.
- Monitor the country's sales and marketing activities to ensure legal and ethical compliance as per country specific market regulations. Lead the development of governance mechanisms to better manage the P&L of the business .
- Lead customer relationship management activities and provide guidance to the customer excellence team for efficient sales operations and excellent customer service.

Educational Qualifications & Experience:
Around 15-20 years of experience in Healthcare.
(Preference for candidates who are based in major metros in China where major pharma companies are located)
